MoreHorror Exclusive: 7 Questions With 'FemVamp.com' Creator and 'Shockfest' Founder G.R. Claveria

Guil ClaveriaBy Seth Metoyer, MoreHorror.com

We recently had a chance to catch up with multi-talented writer/actor/producer/director G.R. Claveria, creator of the unique web series FemVamp.com while he was in Big Bear, California attending the Big Bear Film Festival.

Claveria is also the founder of Shockfest Film Festival which is in its 7th year and will run November 16-17, 2012 in Hollywood, CA.

Check out the 7 exclusive questions below as the creative mind of Guil Claveria shares some important news about his projects and what makes him tick.

1) What inspired you to create FemVamp.Com?
FemVamp.com was inspired by Woody Allen, Scooby Doo and Twilight. I wanted to pay homage to Allen's Shadow and Fog (since I am such a fan). Aa kid i always loved Scooby Doo... so I decided to create meddling kid type characters, hence Terry, BJ, Abigail and Alex. Pertaining to Twilight... I just NEVER EVER wanted to see Edward to Male characters every again the vampire genre. So I created a vampire mythology where only females can be vampires. Men were only good for one thing... they were cattle.

2) You are also the festival director of Shockfest, how did that come about?
I created Shockfest 7 years ago after being department chair and teaching at the college level. I decided to create a place to showcase work of my best students. I figured they deserve an audience and deserved some form of accolades for the passion and excellene they put into their work. I rented a theatre, The Vine Theatre in Hollywood and the rest was history. I kept it going starting by honoring students and then last year honoring ELI ROTH. He attended and showcased his film Cabin Fever to a sold out crowd.

3) What are your plans when it comes to next month's FemVamp.Com Marathon being held in Vegas at the Sci Fi Center?
I plan to have fun in Vegas and answer any questions our fans want to know about FemVamp.Com.They will be screening every episode and our cast and crew will be answering any and all questions. I also plan to premiere our latest Episode for Season Two "Monster and the Pervert". I will be unleashing my latest creation... the WOLFIEND!

4) Who are your influences?
Besides Woody Allen, which i mentioned earlier. I am heavily influenced by Stephen Chow, Spike Lee and Stanley Kubrick. Pertaining to horror, I am a big fan of the older horor films such as Rosemary's Baby by Roman Polanski, The Exorcist and most recently i am in love with American Horror Story.

5) Any special things happening at Shockfest this year?
Yes, I am excited to have Bill Oberst and Devanny Pinn as our host for this year along with a special appearance by Jefferey Macabre, our host from last year. Devanny will also be announcing our official selections on October 2nd, 2012 at the FemVamp.Com Web Series Marathon!

6) You seem to do everything, write, produce, direct, act... do you prefer one over the other? What do you ultimately consider yourself?
I have been blessed to be surrounded by talented folks who have been part of my productions for years... believing in my crazy stories and still playing part. Though i do, almost all jobs in the production...I often think of myself as a writer. I write, write, write and write every single day. The word is what i spend most of my time doing. I have had people call me a Puppet Master... though it does look like I may be one and act like one... I hate the fact that I have to control aspects of things but sometimes... you have to do what you have to do, to get the project done.

7) What are your future projects?
Besides possibly releasing a FemVamp.Com Uncensored DVD for Seasons One and Two... I am looking forward to hanging out with my kids and my friends. I've been really into this Sangria wine making project I've been obsessing about. Other than that... I try not to think too far ahead of myself.
