Dustin Ferguson's AMITYVILLE: EVIL NEVER DIES Features Return to Acting of Scream Legend Mark Patton

MoreHorror.com

Dustin Ferguson, director and creator of horror flicks and owner of cult-film status Old Skool Video rental store, has announced that Mark Patton, lauded as the first “male scream queen,” is continuing his return to acting as one of the stars of Ferguson's Amityville: Evil Never Dies.

The new film is a continuation of the “Amityville” horror series created by Ferguson and Mike Johnson. In their 2016 film "The Amityville Legacy,” a cursed antique toy monkey from the original DeFeo Amityville home, creates havoc and possesses a father after being gifted during an annual family reunion.

“Amityville: Evil Never Dies,” takes place one year after the events in "The Amityville Legacy." A young couple, played by Ben Gothier and Michelle Muir-Lewis, purchases the cursed toy monkey from the owner of a local antique shop, played by Patton. Unaware of the recent murders involving the toy, they bring it into their home, and it isn't long before strange things happen. Connecting the scary occurrences with their new acquisition, they investigate the origins of the monkey, and their search leads them to Julia, the sole survivor of the massacre, now living in an asylum. Julia Farrell, one of the stars of the original film “The Amityville Legacy”, reprises her role in the sequel. She tries to warn them of the grave danger they are in, but it may already be too late. Bleeding walls, flying objects and a monster in the attic are only a few of the horrors in "Amityville: Evil Never Dies"!

Helene Udy of "My Bloody Valentine," "Pin" and "Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman" plays a prostitute in "Amityville: Evil Never Dies." Dawna Lee Heising of Gregory Hatanaka’s “Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance,” Ted V. Mikels’ “Paranormal Extremes” and Ferguson’s “Meathook Massacre II” plays the nosy neighbor, and Clint Beaver of “Tales for the Campfire 2” plays the exterminator. Luc Bernier, known for “Contagio” and “Stained Encounter”, appears as a witness. Schuylar Craig, one of the stars of “The Amityville Legacy,” makes her directorial debut as assistant director in the sequel. John R. Walker, director of "The Amityville Theatre," is the second unit director on "Amityville: Evil Never Dies." The director of photography is Guy S. White. The More Horror interviews with Dustin Ferguson and Mark Patton were edited by Renah Wolzinger.

Ferguson has directed 34 feature films, 12 short films and over 70 music videos to date, including “The Amityville Legacy”; “Silent Night, Bloody Night 2”; “Camp Blood 5”; and “Meathook Massacre 2”. He edited “Sleepaway Camp IV” and has worked with several bands like My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Lords of Acid, and The Egyptian Lover. Ferguson creates low budget entertainment meant for a generation of cult horror fans, and music videos for Lords of Acid and KMFDM.

Legendary actor Mark Patton was born to be on stage. In 1982 he landed a role on Broadway opposite Cher, Sandy Dennis, Kathy Bates, and Karen Black, playing a gay character, Joe Qualley. The play, written by Ed Graczyk and directed by Robert Altman, was adapted into the film of the same title, “Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean” (1982.) It launched Patton’s Hollywood career. Two years later, he landed the role in the sequel to A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985).

In 1987, Patton was cast to play a groundbreaking gay character on a major television network series, but was asked if he could play a gay character while telling people he was straight. Tired of the homophobia in Hollywood that was so different than the theatre scene in New York, Patton left acting and became a successful interior decorator.

Patton now lives in Chicago and owns art galleries in New York City and Mexico. He has made a successful return to acting, and is touring with horror conventions around the globe. He sells t-shirts, donating much of the money he makes from his appearances to HIV treatment organizations and charities for LGBT youth, such as The Trevor Project. By the end of the year, he is releasing a groundbreaking documentary about his experiences in Hollywood in the 1980’s.

Ferguson’s OLD SKOOL VIDEO is a “real live” video rental store and opened in 2016. Located in Lincoln, NE, and offering thousands of titles on DVD, Laserdisc and VHS, the store has a selection that runs the gamut of entertainment, and features a horror section “gloriously gushing with absolute classics and jaw-dropping dope rarities on VHS.”

He has been collecting horror and science fiction movies since the age of eight. Ferguson, who grew up renting movies from video stores, attended Northeast Community College to learn how to open one himself. He sold The Amityville Legacy to Wild Eye Releasing and took all that money and invested it into making OLD SKOOL VIDEO.

Says Ferguson, “I’m giving people my age the fun memories of their childhood back. About 90% of my customers have made it a point to stop and tell me that they miss the video store and really appreciate what I’m doing. And that’s exactly why I’m doing it.”
