The Amityville House of Horrors up for Sale
If you are in the market for a new house during this slow moving economy, you might want to consider buying the house which was made famous in the 1979 movie "The Amityville Horror".
If this sounds appealing to you, you'll be looking at a 5 bedroom Dutch Colonial house and at the price of $1.15 million dollars. Ghosts are not a part of the sales pitch included in the sale.
The Oscar-nominated movie is based on the telling of the Lutz family's short stay in the old house back in 1975 after six members of the DeFeo family were murdered by gun as they slumbered in the home. The oldest son Ronald DeFeo Jr. was eventually convicted of the killings.
The murders spawned a book and a series of films that followed several supernatural horrors, including visions of walls bleeding with slime, shifting furniture and a visit from a possessed pig called Jodie.
The original movie stars James Brolin and Margot Kidder and the remake was released in 2005 which starred Ryan Reynolds as George Lutz and Melissa George as Kathy Lutz. The AP contributed to this article.
