THE THIRD PARENT: Rob Lowe and Crispin Glover Star in Disturbing New Horror Film, First Teaser Arrives
The upcoming supernatural horror film brings the viral Tommy Taffy creepypasta to the big screen this winter.
Bleecker Street has unveiled the first teaser trailer for THE THIRD PARENT, an upcoming supernatural horror film starring Rob Lowe (Salem's Lot), Crispin Glover (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter), and Roselyn Sánchez (Rush Hour 2). Based on the viral internet horror stories by Elias Witherow, the film introduces audiences to Tommy Taffy, a disturbing figure with a particularly twisted understanding of family values.
Written and directed by David Michaels, THE THIRD PARENT takes place during a Fourth of July celebration when a mysterious figure disguises himself as a human and infiltrates a suburban neighborhood. Calling himself Tommy Taffy, the sinister intruder imposes his own authoritarian rules on an unsuspecting family, turning their home into a nightmare.
Crispin Glover takes on the role of Tommy Taffy, a character whose unsettling presence seems particularly suited to the actor's history of playing eccentric and deeply unpredictable personalities. Glover's involvement alone makes this one worth keeping an eye on, especially for horror fans familiar with his more unconventional performances.
The film draws its inspiration from Witherow's The Third Parent, a story that originally gained attention through Reddit's r/nosleep community before expanding into a larger series of internet horror fiction. The character of Tommy Taffy has developed a reputation among creepypasta readers for his disturbing appearance and terrifying methods of controlling families.
The newly released teaser offers an early glimpse of the film's suburban nightmare, with an uneasy encounter at the family home and flashes of disturbing imagery hinting at the horrors ahead. The premise taps into a particularly uncomfortable kind of terror: the idea that someone could enter your home and claim authority over the people you love.
THE THIRD PARENT also stars Rafael de Belligny and Bethany Milner. Bleecker Street will bring the film to theaters this winter.
