From the start, Immaculate drags with pacing so sluggish that any initial intrigue quickly fades. Although the production value is commendable, with some well-composed shots and a polished visual aesthetic, these qualities alone can’t salvage a film that feels like a slog from scene to scene. Even Sydney Sweeney, whose performance is notably solid, can’t shoulder the weight of this story on her own. Her commitment to the role shines through, but it’s ultimately wasted on a film that offers no real payoff. For horror fans craving a more impactful experience, The First Omen (2024) proves a better choice, delivering a similar storyline but executing it with far greater finesse. Ad for Immaculate, nothing stands out as memorable—not a single moment to revisit. Even the score, though competent, simply fades into the background, failing to add any additional depth or atmosphere.
