Jennifer's Body 2: Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried Reportedly Reuniting for Sequel

Jennifer Check might be ready for another taste of blood.
More than 17 years after Jennifer's Body first arrived in theaters, the cult horror favorite appears to be moving closer to a long-awaited sequel, with Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried reportedly returning to their original roles.
According to a November 3 report from Dread Central, citing industry insider Daniel Richtman, Jennifer's Body 2 is moving forward at 20th Century Studios. Original director Karyn Kusama is reportedly returning, with screenwriter Diablo Cody back to continue the story she introduced in 2009.
Seyfried has already expressed enthusiasm about returning. In an October interview with Women's Wear Daily, the actress revealed that the sequel was on her calendar for 2027, describing her experience working with the original creative team as something special.
Cody has also been discussing the project publicly. During a recent appearance on the Petticoat Revolution podcast, she revealed that the screenplay was complete and suggested the sequel would explore Jennifer's character more deeply, particularly the loneliness and vulnerability beneath her monstrous transformation.
The original Jennifer's Body arrived in 2009 with an unusual combination of supernatural horror, dark comedy, teenage angst, and a surprisingly sharp examination of exploitation and female friendship. Fox played Jennifer Check, a high school student transformed into a flesh-hungry demon, while Seyfried portrayed Anita "Needy" Lesnicki, her increasingly desperate best friend.
Although the film struggled to connect with audiences during its original theatrical run, it eventually developed a passionate cult following. Its themes, performances, and wicked sense of humor have earned considerable reappraisal over the years.
Reuniting Fox and Seyfried, particularly with Cody and Kusama involved, presents an intriguing opportunity to revisit these characters nearly two decades later. The original film left plenty of emotional wreckage behind, and Cody's recent comments suggest there's more to explore beneath Jennifer's blood-soaked exterior.
For now, 20th Century Studios has yet to formally announce the returning cast, a production schedule, or an official release date.
We'll keep an eye on this one as further details emerge.
